Come and try the unique experience of Freemasonry in a typical New Zealand country town. The members of The Feilding Lodge are noted for the high standard of their ceremonial work as well as their friendliness and hospitality.
Situated in the lower half of the North Island, the Manawatu District covers an area of 2,780 square kilometres. The District is bounded by two rivers (the Rangitikei in the north and the Manawatu in the south), the Ruahine Ranges to the east and the Tasman Sea to the west. The Manawatu District population is over 28,000, with 14,000 living in Feilding and the remainder in the surrounding area.
Feilding is well placed geographically, just two hours drive from most of the southern half of the North Island including Wellington (NZ's capital) providing a gateway to the South Island. The Manawatu District's location offers easy access to four seaports, seven airports, an airforce base and two large military bases. The nearest city, Palmerston North (only 19 km from Feilding) has a population of over 75,000 providing extra employment opportunities and easy access to all the city facilities.
The main central shopping area in Feilding radiates from Manchester Square. New commercial buildings contrast with the carefully preserved heritage styles, and the broad thoroughfare of Kimbolton Road emphases the overall effect of dignified charm of this rural servicing town. With many owner/operator businesses, the shops offer a uniqueness and variety of choice not seen in the city. The friendly customer service complements the ongoing upgrading of the central streets recognising the rural and heritage history of Feilding. With no traffic lights or parking meters, our shoppers are encouraged to park as long as they wish while enjoying their relaxed shopping experience.
Meeting a friend, a rest from shopping or a night on the town, Feilding offers a wide variety of bars, cafes and restaurants to match all tastes from takeaway through to it a la carte dining. The rural atmosphere is particularly evident just 100 meters from shopping centre, when the twice weekly sheep and cattle sales are held in the sale-yards. The biggest sale-yards in the Southern hemisphere attract farmers and interested parties from all over New Zealand.
The Lodge meets on the 2nd Monday of the month from February to November. Tyling at 7-30pm and receives visitors at 8.00pm. The December meeting is our Xmas celebration.
